Jasper AI Alternatives: 5 Tools Compared for SEO in 2026
Summary
Jasper AI alternatives in 2026 split into three camps: full SEO loops, AI search trackers, and sales-focused copy tools. We compared Frase, Writesonic, Surfer SEO, Anyword and Copy.ai against Jasper on price, SERP optimization, AI visibility and publishing. Frase wins for SEO-led content teams, Writesonic for AI search tracking and Surfer SEO for optimization. Prices checked in October 2026, without affiliate links.
Verdict. Among Jasper AI alternatives, Frase is the one to start with if you publish to rank: $39 a month billed yearly buys research, drafting, SEO and GEO scoring, publishing and decay monitoring in one loop. Writesonic suits teams whose goal is citations in ChatGPT and Google AI. Surfer SEO suits editors who already have drafts. Copy.ai and Anyword answer different questions, from sales workflows to ad copy.
Why teams look for Jasper alternatives
The usual complaint is not writing quality. Jasper still has the best brand voice training of the group, and software buyers rate it 4.7 on G2 and 4.8 on Capterra. The friction is structural. Its Pro plan costs $59 a month billed yearly, or $69 month to month, and there is no permanent free plan, only a 7-day trial. Jasper's homepage now reads "Applied AI for Enterprise Marketing", with a GEO agent and forward-deployed experts on the navigation. That is a sound strategy for a large marketing department. It is less obvious for a two-person SEO desk that wants an editor, a SERP analyzer and a publishing path.
There is also a cost-stacking effect. Teams that write in Jasper usually add an optimizer such as Surfer SEO on top, so the real monthly cost per seat ends up well above the sticker price. Trustpilot is more mixed than the software review sites: 3.3 out of 5 across roughly 4,000 reviews, according to a June 2026 snapshot published by a third-party reviewer. Software buyers and broad consumer sites measure different things, and both are worth reading.
Frase: the full SEO loop at the lowest paid entry
Frase now describes itself as a content operating system for AI search. In practice that means an agent that researches what already ranks, drafts the piece, scores it for SEO and GEO, publishes to WordPress, Webflow, Sanity or Wix, and then watches published pages for ranking decay. Starter is $39 a month billed yearly ($49 monthly) and includes 10 articles, one site and 50 audit pages. Professional is $103 billed yearly for 40 articles, 3 seats and 5 sites. Scale is $239 for 100 articles and 10 domains.
What matters for a programmatic operation is the access layer. The MCP server, CLI and API requests are included on every plan, with 5,000 requests a month on Starter and 50,000 on Scale. The limit that bites first is volume: 10 articles a month is a trial of a workflow, not a pipeline. The caveat is control. An agent that can publish by itself needs a human who reads what ships.
Writesonic: built around AI search visibility
Writesonic's pricing page no longer leads with templates. It leads with tracking: which prompts recommend your competitors instead of you. Starter is $79 a month billed annually and tracks 50 prompts across ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews, with 15 AI articles and 10 site audits. Basic is $199, Growth is $399, and Enterprise tracks nine AI platforms. The Action Center that prioritizes fixes is limited to Growth and above.
It is a good fit if the first question in your team meeting is "are we cited?". It is a poor fit if the question is "how do I publish 40 articles that satisfy search intent?", because the one-user Starter plan and the article caps get tight quickly. Writesonic publishes about 2,000 reviews on G2 and 2,100 on Capterra, which gives its 4.7 average more weight than most competitors in this list.
Surfer SEO: the optimizer, not the writer
Surfer remains the reference for on-page optimization. Discovery starts at $49 a month billed yearly with 120 documents. Standard is $99 with 360 documents and an AI Tracker on ChatGPT for 25 prompts. Pro at $182 adds internal linking, Content Ideas and Coverage Gap, Custom Voices and the Cannibalization Report. The top tier, at $299, adds API access and a dedicated success manager.
The site rebranded under a parent called Positive, and its homepage now headlines AI Mode visibility. The core editor is still there. Its own generative drafting reads as competent but formulaic, which is why it works best as the second pass on a draft from another tool. Compared with Jasper plus Surfer, the question is whether you still need Jasper.
Anyword and Copy.ai: different jobs
Anyword sells predicted performance. Its Starter plan is $49 monthly or $39 billed yearly, with unlimited words, 1 seat and 50 performance predictions a month. The Data-Driven plan, at $99 monthly or $79 yearly, adds 3 seats and 100 predictions. It is the better Jasper alternative for ads and email, where copy variants are scored against past results, and a weak one for long-form SEO.
Copy.ai moved the other way. Its homepage now calls it the first AI-native go-to-market platform. The self-serve Chat plan is $29 a month, or $24 billed annually, for 5 seats and unlimited chat words with multiple model providers. The next tier, Growth, is $1,000 a month billed yearly for 75 seats and 20,000 workflow credits. If your work is sales sequencing and workflow automation, it is relevant. For editorial SEO it is not what it used to be.
How to choose
Three cases where the swap holds, two where it does not. It holds when you run a content team that needs SERP research and scoring more than template variety (Frase), when your KPI is citations in AI answers (Writesonic), and when you already have drafts and need them to rank (Surfer SEO). It does not hold when governed brand voice across many writers is the requirement, which is still Jasper's strength, or when you only need a chat model for first drafts, in which case a general assistant at about $20 a month costs less than any of these.
Switching has a cost. Moving brand voice settings, templates and approved messaging takes weeks, and output usually dips before it recovers. Test on one content cluster first, compare the cost per published article, and keep Jasper active until the new workflow ships on schedule.

Frase
- Lowest paid entry among the full-workflow tools at $39 per month billed yearly
- Research, scoring, publishing and decay monitoring sit in one product
- MCP server, CLI and API requests are included on every plan, which suits programmatic setups
- Starter is capped at 10 articles and one site, so volume teams jump to Professional
- The brand voice controls are lighter than what Jasper offers
- The agent-first interface asks for review discipline before auto-publishing
The best fit for a content operation that cares about rankings and AI citations more than copy variety.

Writesonic
- Tracks ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews from the cheapest plan
- Article writer, site audits and an Action Center live in a single dashboard
- Large review base, around 2,000 reviews on G2 and Capterra
- Starter at $79 per month allows 1 user, 1 project and 15 articles
- The full Action Center only arrives on the $399 Growth plan or above
- The pivot to GEO means classic copywriting templates are no longer the headline
Strong if tracking citations is the goal, pricier than Frase once you want more than a handful of articles.

Surfer SEO
- Content Score and SERP analysis remain the reference for on-page optimization
- Topical Map, Content Audit and cannibalization reports serve cluster-based programs
- Documents scale from 120 on Discovery to unlimited on the top tier
- Generative drafting is competent but formulaic, so it rarely replaces a writer
- Useful features such as internal linking and custom voices sit on the $99 to $182 tiers
- Its homepage now sells AI visibility, which can blur the original editor use case
Pick it to improve drafts, not to write them. Pair with a writer or a model you already pay for.

Anyword
- Predictive performance scores help choose between copy variants
- Unlimited words on every plan, with 30+ languages
- Competitive entry price at $39 per month billed yearly
- Performance predictions are capped at 50 or 100 per month on the self-serve plans
- Little support for SERP research, internal linking or AI search tracking
- Custom models and API access are reserved for Business and Enterprise quotes
Better for conversion copy than for ranking articles, so it answers a different Jasper use case.

Copy.ai
- Chat plan gives 5 seats and unlimited words for $24 per month billed annually
- Access to OpenAI, Anthropic and Gemini models in the same workspace
- Workflow engine automates repetitive sales and marketing steps
- The product repositioned as a GTM platform, so editorial SEO features are absent
- The jump from the Chat plan to Growth at $1,000 per month is steep
- Workflow credits make costs hard to forecast for bulk content
A fine automation tool, but a weak answer for someone leaving Jasper for blog and SEO work.
Verdict
Frase is the strongest Jasper replacement for an SEO-led content team because it prices the full loop, from research to publishing and monitoring, below what Jasper charges for drafting alone. Writesonic wins if AI search tracking is the priority, and Surfer SEO wins if optimization quality is. Jasper itself stays right for brand governance at enterprise scale.
How we tested
Pricing, plan limits and positioning come from each vendor's own public pricing and home pages, checked on 30 and 31 October 2026. Customer ratings are aggregates from G2, Capterra and Trustpilot as reported on those pages and by third-party reviewers, and I treat vendor-published star ratings as less reliable than platform-hosted ones. I did not run a controlled 90-day test of all six tools, so the scores below are editorial judgments of fit for a programmatic SEO workflow, not lab measurements. I weighted six criteria: entry price, SERP optimization, AI search tracking, publishing and automation, brand voice control, and review base. EsyBlog has no affiliate relationship with any of these vendors, and no tool on this page paid for placement.
