Clearscope Review 2026: Is $129 a Month Still Worth It?
An independent audit of the 2026 pricing, five review platforms, and the pivot from content grading to AI-search tracking.
Summary
This Clearscope review rests on a one-day audit of the live product pages and 164 aggregated reviews across G2, Capterra and TrustRadius, not a paid subscription test. Verdict: Clearscope is still the content grader writers actually use, rated 4.9/5 on G2 and Capterra, and Essentials now starts at $129 a month instead of the $189 older reviews quote. The AI-visibility tracking it now leads with is unproven, and most reviews describe the older product. Best for editorial teams briefing many writers.
Clearscope is the content grader that editorial teams still trust, rated 4.9/5 on G2 (92 reviews) and Capterra (60 reviews). Verdict: 7.2/10. Essentials now costs $129 a month, down from the $189 older reviews quote, but the AI-visibility tracking it now leads with has no independent proof yet, and nearly every review describes the older product.

How we audited Clearscope
- Tested for
- 1 day
- Plan paid
- None. We did not buy a subscription; Clearscope's plans start at $129 per month.
- Version tested
- Public web product as of October 2026: homepage, pricing page, and the Optimize, Discover, Expand and Protect feature pages
- Test period
- 2026-10-10 → 2026-10-10
We audited Clearscope on October 10, 2026. We read the live homepage, the pricing page and four feature pages (Optimize, Discover, Expand, Protect), and we captured screenshots directly from them. We then pulled the public ratings and written reviews from G2, Capterra, TrustRadius, Trustpilot and Product Hunt, and read two independent write-ups that re-checked the same pages in August and September 2026. We did not run a paid subscription and we did not grade a single draft ourselves. That limit matters most for Clearscope's headline claim in 2026, brand-mention tracking across AI chatbots, because a mention percentage only means something after weeks of data against your own queries. Where a number comes from Clearscope's own marketing rather than a neutral source, we say so. Reddit threads were read through search excerpts only, because the full pages block automated reading.
Who should pay for Clearscope
YES if you...
- Editorial teams briefing 10 or more freelance or junior writers who need one shared quality bar
- Agencies that want a defensible letter grade to show clients, with unlimited users and projects on every plan
- Content leads who also want AI-chatbot mention tracking folded into the same tool as the editor
NO if you...
- Solo publishers shipping 2 to 4 posts a month, where $1,548 a year buys very little
- Teams that need technical crawling, backlink data or rank tracking in the same subscription
- Anyone who drafts everything with a language model and treats the grade as a final check only, since the grade then mostly confirms what the model already covered

Hidden costs & gotchas
- No free tier: the 14-day trial is the only way in, then $129 a month
- Extra pages are listed at $25 a month on Essentials and $15 on Business, and the page does not make clear how the price scales with the 100 to 5,000 page selector
- Extra drafts are $50 on Essentials and $20 on Business per batch, from a selector of 10 to 500
- Drafts stay at 20 a month on both paid plans, so heavy AI drafting means buying add-ons
What we measured
Every figure below is read from a named public source on October 10, 2026, or computed from one. None comes from a hands-on paid test.

- 4.9 /5 92 reviews on G2.com, with 92% at five stars, 6% at four and 1% at three
- Capterra rating
- 4.9 /5 60 reviews on Capterra.com, value for money the lowest sub-score at 4.7
- TrustRadius score
- 8 /10 12 reviews on TrustRadius.com, the only platform with a low outlier (a 3/10 sits beside a 10/10 in the small sample)
- Trustpilot reviews
- 0 profile claimed since March 2021, score 0.0 (trustpilot.com/review/clearscope.io)
- Entry plan price

Pros and cons
Pros
- The grade is legible to writers who know nothing about SEO Reviewers on G2 and Capterra repeat the same point: a letter grade and a live term list inside Google Docs, Word or WordPress gets adopted, where a separate tab does not.
- Unlimited users and projects on every plan Competitors in this category tend to gate on seats. Clearscope gates on queries, pages, explorations and drafts, which suits agencies with many writers and few reports.
- The repricing improved the entry point Essentials is listed at $129 a month in October 2026. An independent write-up that re-checked the page in August 2026 notes that the figure older reviews quote, $189, is out of date.
- Support gets praised even by reviewers who complain about price Capterra reviewers describe fast help with the Google Docs add-on, and the pricing page says priority support is included on every plan rather than sold as an upsell.
Cons
- No free tier, and the $129 plan caps drafts at 20 a month A solo publisher pays $1,548 a year for up to 50 pages of inventory. The 14-day trial is the only way to test before committing, and extra drafts are sold in paid batches.
- The review base mostly describes the pre-2026 product Capterra's sampled reviews run from 2018 to 2022 and TrustRadius's sampled reviews date to June 2022. The most recent G2 review we read is from January 2026. None evaluates prompt tracking in depth.
- Incentivized reviews inflate the headline score An independent write-up found G2 page strings for 'Incentivized' and 'G2 invite', and two TrustRadius reviews it read were labelled Incentivized. A 4.9 from a solicited sample deserves a discount.
- The grading logic is opaque and can be gamed One Capterra reviewer says it is possible to reach an A++ just by stuffing keywords, and one G2 reviewer wants more explanation of why a term is recommended. The grade measures coverage, not usefulness.
- Marketing disagrees with itself on which AI engines are tracked The pricing page says query tracking covers ChatGPT and Gemini, while the Expand page and the product screenshot also show Claude. Check which engines your plan includes before you subscribe.
Final verdict
Clearscope earns its reputation for one job: telling a writer, in a letter grade, whether a draft covers what the ranking pages cover. The 4.9/5 on G2 and Capterra is real in the sense that the reviews exist and agree. It is also soft evidence in 2026, because the samples are solicited, the oldest run back to 2018, and nobody in them is grading the AI-visibility tracker the homepage now leads with.
The price story improved. At $129 a month Essentials is no longer the outlier it was at $189, and unlimited seats make it sensible for a team of writers. It is still $1,548 a year for 50 pages and 20 drafts a month, with no free tier to grow into.
Our advice is conditional. If you brief many writers and need one bar they can all see, the grade is worth paying for. If a language model drafts your articles and you want AI-chatbot visibility, trial the tracking for 14 days against your own queries before paying, and compare it with Surfer SEO and Frase.
- Content grading 8.5/10 The category benchmark, per reviews
- Workflow and integrations 8/10 Docs, Word, WordPress, unlimited users
- AI visibility tracking 6/10 Promising, unverified
- Pricing value 6/10 Cheaper than before, still no free tier
- Scope of toolset 5.5/10 No crawl, backlinks or rank tracking
